READING, Pa. – The Albright women's lacrosse team was downed by #13 York in MAC Commonwealth action under the lights at Shirk Stadium on Wednesday.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-3 in conference and 2-9 overall. Meanwhile, the nationally ranked Spartans improve to 3-0 in conference and 7-4 overall.
York opened up their scoring with four quick goals within a 2:15 span. The Spartans closed out the opening frame with their fifth unanswered goal to grasp a 5-0 lead. York added two more goals in the second stanza and kept Albright scoreless throughout the first half to hold a 7-0 lead entering the break.
The Spartans kept their momentum going in the third, netting back-to-back goals to cap off their run and extend their lead to nine. Sophomore

Lauren China at the 5:08-mark. York had the closing goal of the third at the 3:33-mark to hold a 10-1 advantage entering the final stanza.

Katelyn Patrick found the back of the net for the Lions to open up the fourth quarter and cut their deficit to eight with 11:14 remaining. York responded with back-to-back goals to claim a double-digit lead over Albright. Senior
Ashleigh Tortorice scored on a woman-down possession off a feed from junior
Abigail Hai to close the gap 12-3. However, York scored twice more to close out the fourth and solidify their 14-3 conference victory.
York held a sizable 41-15 shot advantage and a 28-12 shot on goal advantage over Albright. The Spartans also won the battle for ground balls 17-8 and draw controls 17-3. First-year goalkeeper
Caelainn Morrison receives the loss for the Lions despite completing 14 saves in 60 minutes of action. Bella Garabo earns the win for York with nine saves in the full amount of action.
Albright will return to action on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. as they travel to Mary Washington for non-conference action.
