OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Albright women's tennis team fell 6-3 at Stevenson in their season finale on Saturday.
With the loss, the Lions conclude the 2022 season 2-5 in conference and 9-6 overall. Meanwhile, the Mustangs wrap up their season 3-4 in conference and 6-13 overall.
The duo of
Alex Pancu and
Shelby Woodard got Albright off to a 1-0 lead after earning an 8-3 victory in the first doubles match. Pancu and Woodard closed out the season with an impressive doubles record of 13-2 overall for a percentage of .867. Stevenson went on to take the other two doubles matches to earn a 2-1 advantage entering singles play.
Pancu kept her perfect singles record in tact as she earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot, finishing her rookie season 15-0. Woodard followed in the No. 2 spot with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win to put Albright in the lead 3-2. However, Stevenson grasped the final four singles matches to solidify their 6-3 victory over Albright.
