Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Albright Lions Women's Tennis team participated in the MAC Individual Championships this past weekend.
In the Number One Doubles tournament, the pairing of
Alex Pancu and
Michelle Timothy was given the three seed, and won their first match 8-1. In their second match against an Alvernia team, they won 8-4. Their run would end in the semifinals, losing to the two seed team from Stevens, and eventual champion, by a score of 8-1. The other Albright doubles team of
Megan Colaneri and
Maddie Show lost in the first round of the Number Two tournament.
In the No. 1 Singles tournament,
Alex Pancu was given the second seed. She won her first match 6-0, 6-2. She was pushed to a third set tiebreaker in her second match, but was able to pull out the victory, winning 3-6, 6-1, 10-3.Similar to her runs in doubles, Pancu's singles run would end in the semifinals, falling to Agatha Malinowski (Stevens) 7-6, 6-1.
In the No 2 Singles tournament,
Michelle Timothy won her first match 6-4, 6-3, before falling in her quarterfinals match to the three seed.
Up Next - The Women's Tennis team will next play on Thursday, September 22nd at PSU Berks. That match is slated to start at 3pm.
