Reading, PA - The Albright Lions defeated Delaware Valley 4-0 on Tuesday night. The victory improves the Lions' record to 2-5 on the season, while Delaware Valley falls to 3-4.
The Lions scored early to jump out to an early lead, scoring in the 6th minute on an
Olivia Lorah goal. That was assisted by
Chelsea Johnson. The story of the first quarter was the Albright offense, as they were able to put up 13 shots, force eight penalty corners.
The Lions would double their lead late in the second when
Lamya Mejias would put away a penalty stroke. This would give the Lions a 2-0 lead that they would take into halftime.
Less than a minute into the third quarter, Mejias would strike again, this time on a goal assisted by
Jacey Petruno. Later in the quarter,
Chelsea Johnson would put the Lions up 4-0 with a goal assisted by Mejias.
The Lions would coast in the fourth period, and protect their lead, clinching a 4-0 victory.
The game was largely dominated by the Lions, as they outshot their opponents 26-6, and had 16 penalty corners, compared to Delaware Valley's three.

Veronica Heckman picked up the win, she made one save in three quarters before being replaced by
Adele Thomas, who made three save in the fourth quarter.
Coach Catherine Wiese said afterwards, "I am proud of the girls for getting the win today. We came out a little slow, but were able to find more of a rhythm in the second half, which was great to see. I think Lamya really stepped up today and played an impressive game. We will enjoy this win tonight, but get ready to work tomorrow as we prepare for another conference game on Saturday."
