Reading, PA - The Albright Lions fell to Lycoming by a score of 45-0 on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Lions to 0-4 overalll and 0-2 in conference play, while Lycoming moves to 2-1 and 1-0.
Lycoming scored on their first possesion by way of a 34 yard field. Later in the first quarter the Warriors would add to their lead on a two yard run by their quarterback Elijah Shemory. It capped an 11 play drive for Lycoming. They would take a 10-0 lead in the second, where they would add a touchdown on another Shemory run, this time from one yard out. The Warriors would take a 17-0 lead into the half.
In the third quarter the Warriors would continue where they left off, scoring three touchdowns. The first on a 20 yard pass, the second on a one yard run, and the third on a fumble recovery return on the last play of the quarter to make the score 38-0. The Warriors would add a final touchdown on a blocked punt in the fourth.
Similar to previous weeks, Coach
Isaac Collins employed a two QB system, as both
Alex Gardsy and
Jarren Rutter took snaps. Rutter went 2-7 for 20 yards and two touchdowns, while Gardsy went 2-8 for nine yards. Both proved to be effective with their legs, as Rutter led the team with 55 rushing yards, including a 43 yard run in the fourth quarter. Gardsy added 18 yards rushing. Running back
Isaiah Shockley rushed for 54 yards on 17 carries. Shockley was also the leading receiver, having a 14 yard reception.
It was a two-man tackling team for the Lions, as
Sam Viera (16 tackles) and
Daniel Vital (12 tackles) combined for 28 tackles. Cornerback
Samuel Moratori also had a good game with five tackles and a couple of pass break ups.
