YORK, Pa. - The Albright College women's basketball team (14-7, 8-4 MAC Commonwealth) came into today's game looking for the season sweep over York College (Pa.) (7-14, 4-8 MAC Commonwealth) and did just that, taking the road game over the Spartans, 70-64.
Albright's 14 wins on the season are the most since the 2019-20 season which resulted in an NCAA Division III Championship berth.
The Albright offense was rolling out of the gate and continued for the entirety of the game. The Lions scored 20 points in the first quarter shooting 53.3% from the field and going 4-7 from three point range.
Gabby Boggs was fantastic in the second quarter controlling the offensive glass. The MAC's leading rebounder had four offensive rebounds in the second quarter alone giving the Lions second chance point opportunities. Boggs finished the quarter with six points, five rebounds and four assists leading the Lions to a 38-33 halftime lead.
Mackenzie Dover owned the third quarter scoring 10 points overall and closed the third quarter scoring nine straight points herself for the Lions. Dover nearly outscored the Spartans by herself in the quarter, having 10 to York's 12.
With less than a minute to go in the game, Albright found themselves up by two. Coming out of the timeout Dover drove the lane, made the jumper and was fouled in the process looking for the three point play. Dover drained the free throw and locked up the game for Albright to give the Lions a huge MAC Commonwealth victory.
Dover went for 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals. The sophomore guard was 3-5 from long range to lead the lions offensively.
