DALLAS, PA. - The Albright College football team (0-8, 0-7 MAC) was in action on Saturday afternoon kicking off their two game road trip on the road at the Misericordia Cougars (3-5, 3-4 MAC). The Cougars from Misericordia won today's game over the Lions by a final score of 38-9.Â
Misericordia jumped on the Lions early in the first quarter jumping out to a 19-0 lead at the end of 15 minutes of play. The Cougars carried their first quarter momentum into the second quarter scoring 13 more points to lead 31-0 at halftime.Â
Montez Ellis Jr. picked up where he left off a week ago, turning in a solid first half for Albright. The reigning Pretzel Bowl MVP led the Lions rushing attack in the first half averaging 5.7 yards a carry. Ellis Jr. finished the first half with 56 all purpose yards, 34 of the yards coming from the ground and 22 of them in the return game.Â
Josh Scurry had a strong first half defensively for the Lions making five total tackles, four of which were solo. Scurry was in the backfield often recording three tackles for loss in the first 30 minutes of play.Â
Taylor Heflin brought life to the Albright sideline with an electrifying 45 yard interception return for a touchdown midway through the third quarter. Heflin had his man covered the entire way stepping right in front of the Misercordia wideout for the interception returning it up the Albright sideline for a touchdown. Heflin's interception was the first of the year for the corner back.
At the end of the third quarter, Misericordia led Albright 31-7.Â
Albright had chances to get back in the game heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Misericordia defense stood tall and prevented Albright from climbing back into the game.Â
Ellis Jr. finished with a team high 35 rushing yards to pace the Lions offense.
Matthew Creeger and
Antwan Rogers Jr. both made one catch each for Albright.Â
Scurry finished with eight tackles and four tackles for loss.
Sebastian Robinson led the defense making nine total tackles.Â
