Field Hockey Tops Cedar Crest College on the Road 6-0

The Albright field hockey team went on the road on Wednesday evening and handled their business, winning the game over Cedar Crest College by a final score of 6-0 behind four goals from Chelsea Johnson.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Albright field hockey team (4-6) traveled to Cedar Crest College (2-9) on Wednesday evening and handled their business over the Falcons winning the game 6-0. Chelsea's Johnson scored a career high four goals propelling Albright to victory.

Tonight's meeting was the first time the two schools met since the 2016 season. With tonight's win Albright continues their unblemished head to head record over Cedar Crest College sitting at 5-0.

Chelsea Johnson scored four goals tonight for the Lions including a first half hat trick for Albright in an all-around strong game for the Lions. As a team Albright fired 24 shots placing 19 of them on goal. The offensive onslaught was persistent for the entire 60 minutes of the game.

Johnson's four goals in the game ties a school record for most goals in a single game. Johnson now places her name next to four other individuals to reach four goals in a game in school history. Johnson is the first player to do so since the 2015 season.

Johnson got the party started just five minutes into the game scoring the first of her four goals in the game. The Lions led 1-0 after the first 15 minutes of play.

Johnson would complete her first half hat trick, the first hat trick of her career, by the 26th minute of game play. Johnson's two second period goals gave the Lions a 3-0 lead at the break.

Assisting on Johnson's three first half goals were Keliah Santiago, who assisted on two of them and Lamya Mejias tallied the assist on the third Johnson goal.

The offensive attack continued in the second half, leaving no doubt who was the better side. The Lions put the game away in the third period scoring three more times to extend their lead 6-0.

Mejias scored the fourth goal, Johnson the fifth and Morgan Kopcik scored the sixth and final goal of the evening.

The Lions closed out the game in the fourth period, winning on the road for the second time this season.

Johnson fired eight shots and was followed by Olivia Lorah with seven while Kopcik and Mejias each tallied two shots.
