Mackenzie Dover’s 27 Points Powers Women’s Basketball Past LVC 61-51

The Albright women’s basketball team got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 2) downing LVC 61-51 behind Dover’s 27 points.

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Albright women's basketball team (3-3) got back in the win column on Saturday (Dec. 2) afternoon winning on the road 61-51 against Lebanon Valley College (3-3). Mackenzie Dover poured in a career high 27 points leading the Lions to victory.

Today's win is the third straight over Lebanon Valley for Albright. Additionally, Albright has won their last eight of 10 meetings against the Dutchmen.

Mackenzie Dover could not be stopped this afternoon as the Junior guard poured in a career high 27 points. The 27 points bested Dover's previous career high of 24 points set last season.

Dover played all forty minutes this afternoon pacing the offense finishing as the only Albright Lion to score in double figures. Dover shot 50% from the field and went 9-13 from the free throw line.

Albright held LVC to 35.5% shooting in the game in a strong defensive effort. The Lions started the game on a 10-0 run setting the tone early led by Dover's eight first quarter points.

The Lions stretched their lead to 32-18 at halftime. Albright could not miss in the second quarter shooting over 70% from the floor. Shakyla Mayo and Gigi Serrano each scored four second quarter points.

The Dutchmen got themselves back in the game during the third quarter taking the quarter 21-11. Albright maintained their lead at 43-39 heading into the final 10 minutes.

Five different Lions made at least one jump shot in the final frame to maintain Albright's slim advantage. A Kenedy Cooper layup with 1:58 left stretched the lead back to eight points for Albright and from there the Lions were able to close out the Dutchmen for their first true road win of the season 61-51.

Dover finished with a game high 27 points and added five rebounds and five steals in a complete performance from start to finish. CJ Apistar chipped in with seven points while adding six rebounds and two steals.

The duo of Serrano and Mayo each scored six points helping the Lions to victory. Serrano cleaned up on the boards recording eight rebounds in today's game.

The Lions scored 30 points in the paint and added 13 second chance points helping the team to victory. Defensively, Albright was even better holding the Dutchmen to 35% shooting from the field.

The Lions will head to Gwyneed Mercy College on Wednesday December 6 for their second of six straight road games. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. from Gwyneed Mercy College.
