LANCASTER, Pa. – The Albright men's basketball team (4-3) went on the road on Friday (Dec. 8) evening squaring off against non-conference foe, Franklin & Marshall College (7-1). The Diplomats took tonight's game over the Lions by a final score of 79-66.
The halftime deficit was only five for Albright trailing 33-28 after 20 minutes of play.
Chris Kouemi led all Albright scorers in the first half with 10 points. Koeumi went 5-10 from the floor helping Albright to shot 45.8% from the field in the first half.
Robert Mangum and
Eric Chamberlain chipped in with seven and six first half points, respectively. Mangum went 2-3 from three while Chamberlain added two steals on the defensive end of the floor.
The Diplomats stretched their lead to 15 points with 10 minutes to go leading 59-44. Albright looked to get back into the game over the last 10 minuets but Franklin & Marshall had an answer for every Lions basket down the stretch to maintain their lead. The Diplomats closed out the Lions winning tonight's game 79-66.
Chamberlain finished with a team high 19 points. Chamberlain came into tonight's game as the MAC Commonwealth's second leading per game scorer averaging 19.3 points per game. Chamberlain has scored at least 15 points in every game this season. The junior guard added four rebounds, three assists and three steals to his overall stat line tonight.
Kouemi notched his second double-double of the season pouring in 16 points while hauling in 12 rebounds. Tonight's point and rebound total are each the second most in a single game this season for Kouemi.
Mangum rounded out the double figure scoring for Albright going for 14 points. Mangum went 3-5 from behind the arc shooting 50% from the field overall. Mangum has now scored 10 points in four of the seven games played this season.
Phanique Dupree was strong on the defensive side of the court recording five blocks. Tonight is the second such game this season where Dupree has recorded at least five blocks in a game.
