READING, Pa. - The Albright men's lacrosse team (0-2) kicked off the 2023 home portion of the schedule today against Drew University (2-1) in a non conference clash and fell to the visitors, 19-14.
It was a high scoring affair as the two teams combined to score 34 goals throughout the contest.
The first period alone featured nine total goals. Jay Shifflet scored twice for Albright in the opening 15 minutes of play to tie the game at one and three, respectively.
Just before the end of the first period Lucas Roselli found the back of the net to bring the Lions within one heading into the second frame. Drew University led 5-4 after one. After more scoring in the second period Albright found themselves down by just two 8-6 at halftime. Jack Burke and Luke Williams recorded the tallies in the second for the Lions.
After being down 10-6 in the early going of the second half the Lions scored six of the next seven goals scored in the game. Burke scored three times in the third period alone on his way to tying his career high for goals scored in a game with six.
The fourth quarter went the way of the visitors giving Drew University the `19-14 win over the Lions.
Burke finished with a game high six goals, Shifflet with three and Luke Williams scoring twice.
Rounding out the Lion goal scorers were Roselli, James Elko and Braden Jarabak.
Scoring their first career goals for Albright today was Elko, Williams (1st & 2nd career) and Jarabak.
