The Albright women’s lacrosse team was in action on Wednesday evening and picked up their second win of the season against Elizabethtown, 9-8.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Albright women's lacrosse team (2-2) was in action for their first night game of the season and held off a late comeback attempt by Elizabethtown (3-1) downing the Blue Jays by a final score of 9-8. Tonight's win is the second road win of the season and also the Lions fifth straight win over the Blue Jays.

Lauren China scored a game high five goals including Albright's first four goals of the game leading the way offensively for the Lions. China scored on all five of her shot attempts giving her 13 goals through four games so far this season.

Albright trailed 3-0 early before China found the back of the net twice in the opening frame. China scored on a free position and just under two minutes of game time later China scored her second of the game, unassisted. Albright trailed 3-2 after one period of play.

It was all Lions in the second period out scoring the Blue Jays 5-1. China scored her third goal to tie the game at three and her fourth goal of the game to put the Lions up one. Then heading into halftime China scored her fifth of the opening half giving Albright the 7-4 halftime advantage.

Sarah Chernis and Chole Fornoff both scored in the second period for Albright. Chernis's goal was her second of the year and Fornoff scored for the fourth time this season.

Coming out of halftime with the lead the Lions got two huge goals from Ashleigh Tortorice. Tortorice scored to make it 8-4 Lions and then scored again two minutes later stretching the Albright led to 9-4. Tortorice's second goal wound up being the eventual game winner.

The Blue Jays got within one of Albright with four minutes remaining. With 16 seconds left Elizabethtown had a free position shot but that shot was turned away by Lion goalkeeper, Caelainn Morrison. Morrison finished with six saves on the night but none bigger than the one made in the waning seconds to give Albright the 9-8 road victory.
