Men’s Lacrosse Record Breaking Night Sends Lions Past Rosemont 24-14

The Albright men’s lacrosse team was in control of the game from start to finish and protected home field picking up their second win of the season beating Rosemont 24-14.

READING, Pa. - The Albright men's lacrosse team (2-4) was in action on a chilly Wednesday evening and cruised to victory against Rosemont (0-5) taking care of business at home winning the game 24-14.

Three different Lions achieved a program record during tonight's game. Jack Burke, Lucas Roselli and Justinus Park.

Burke scored a career high 11 goals during tonight's game to break the single game goal record surpassing the old mark of nine. Justinus Park set the new record for most ground balls in a game collecting 17 in tonight's game. Park also improved on his previous school record of face offs won in a game winning 25 last night besting his previous mark of 23. 

Burke and Lucas Roselli each had 13 points in tonight's game each breaking the previous mark of 12 points in a single game. Burke finished with 11 goals and two assists and Roselli scored eight times and had five assists.

The goals came early and often for the Lions, scoring six teams in the opening 15 minutes of the game. After going down 1-0 early the Lions roared back to gain the lead and distance themselves from Rosemont. Justin Moroney scored the first goal of the game off a feed from Burke to tie the game at 1-1.

Burke scored six times in the opening half including four straight goals in the first period for Albright. The four straight goals for Burke put the Lions up 6-2 in the opening frame. Daniel Dewing and Roselli assisted on two of Burke's four first period goals.

The Lions kept it rolling going into the second period scoring eight more times in the frame. Finding a goal for the Lions in the second period was James Elko (x2), Roselli (x3), Nick Antonio and Burke (x2). The Lions led 14-6 at halftime.

Burke, Roselli and Antonio all scored in the third period to maintain the Albright advantage. The Lions led 17-11 heading into the final 15 minutes of play.

Rosemont never threatened a comeback against the Lions as Albright put the game to rest in the fourth period. Burke and Roselli combined for all seven goals for Albright in the final period. Burke had four and Roselli had three to send the Albright faithful home happy with a convincing 24-14 home victory.

Hunter Fitterling was strong defensively for the Lions registering five caused turnovers and collecting three ground balls. Ethan Hendershot kept the Ravens from climbing back into the game recording nine saves on the night.

The Lions will remain home for their next game against Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday, March 12. The Sunday matinee will get underway at 1:00 p.m.
