Softball Falls At Home in Non Conference Action to Notre Dame of Maryland

The Albright College softball team played four games in the span of 24 hours and fell in both games to Notre Dame of Maryland this afternoon in non conference softball action.

READING, PA. - The Albright College softball team (3-21, 0-8 MAC Commonwealth) played their third and fourth games in the span of 24 hours this afternoon and fell at home to the Notre Dame of Maryland University Gators (11-11) dropping both games of the double header.


GAME 1:  L, 5-1

Notre Dame of Maryland University struck first in game one but the Lions battled back to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Mya Mrakich led off the home half of the fourth with a single to left field. Madison Lasko, who is swinging a hot bat of late, tripled to center field to score Mrakich from first. For Lasko it was her second triple of the season.

The Gators scored three runs in the third inning to pull away from Albright and take game one over the Lions.

In game one, Mrakich was slotted into the three spot in the order and went a perfect 3-3 in the game. Mrakich roped a triple to center field and followed up the triple with singles in her next two at bats. Mrakich is now up to .290 batting average on the season.

For Lasko, game one marked her second straight multi hit game and her second straight game with an RBI recorded. The Lions collected six hits as a team in game one, three from Mrakich, two from Lasko and one from Heather Pomante.


GAME 2: 

In the bottom of the first the Lions were aiming to strike first in game two placing two runners on in the inning. Mrakich led off with a single and was followed by a Kathryn Baptiste single of her own. Despite threatening in the inning, the Lions were unable to bring home Mrakich and Baptiste.

The Gators were able to scratch arcross two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-0 lead in game two.

Mrakich carried her hot bat into game two collecting two more hits in the second game. Mrakich went 5-6 in game two giving her a total of five hits between the two games. With the strong day at the plate the first year outfielder is now up to a .308 batting average on the season.

Jordan Meslon pinch hit in game two and made the most of her opportunity going 1-1 at the plate with a single.

The Lions will head on the road to Widener during the middle of the week on Wednesday, April 17. The doubleheader against Widener will begin at 3 p.m.
