Women’s Lacrosse Celebrates Seniors; Wraps Up Regular Season Against Messiah

The Albright women’s lacrosse team honored their seniors prior to the start of today’s game for their contributions to the program. Albright will now begin to prepare for their MAC Commonwealth playoff game.

READING, PA. - The Albright women's lacrosse team (10-7, 4-4 MAC Commonwealth) concluded their regular season against Messiah (14-2, 7-1 MAC Commonwealth) this afternoon at a rain soaked Shirk Stadium. The Falcons got the best of the Lions taking the game 17-5 over Albright.

Prior to the start of today's game the women's lacrosse team took the time to recognize their seniors and graduating student athletes. The 2023 women's lacrosse team seniors are Chloe Fornoff, Abigail Hai and Riley Geraghty. The graduating student athletes are Lauren China, Ashleigh Tortorice, Abbie Moist, Nicole Blair and Marisa Cocca.

Coming into the game today, Albright already locked up their spot in the 2023 MAC women's lacrosse championships. Albright will play on May 2 with an opponent, time and location to be determined.

As for today's game, Messiah jumped out to a 6-1 lead and carried that momentum into halftime leading 11-3.

Scoring for Albright in the first half was Ashleigh Tortorice, Chloe Fornoff and Lauren China. Two of the three lion goals were unassisted while Sarah Chernis was credited with the assist on the Tortorice.

China and Tortorice added a goal a piece for the Lions in the second half. With two goals today China has surpassed her single season career high total of 45 with now scoring 47 goals this season. For Tortorice, she scored her 31st and 32 goals this afternoon.

Kyra Lycett ended her afternoon with five draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover.


UP NEXT:
The Lions will now gear up for their playoff game against an opponent, time and site to be determined. Regardless, the game will take place May 1st.
