READING, PA. - The Albright College baseball team (9-29, 2-22 MAC Commonwealth) concluded their 2023 campaign this afternoon in epic fashion dominating Clarks Summit (4-31) at home 16-4. The Lions scored at least one run in six of the eight innings.
It was all Albright for the first pitch to the last pitch in today's game. The Albright bats were on fire early scoring eight runs in the first two innings including a six run second inning.
Nick Barton had the big swing of the second inning hitting his first career two run home run. The first home run of Barton's career was crushed to dead center field for the Junior catcher. Roman Berretta roped a double to left field that scored two runs for the Lions to complete the six run second.
Albright tallied five more runs across the third and fourth innings. Deklyn Marks had an RBI single in the third and a two RBI double in the fourth. The Lions held a commanding 13-0 lead after four innings. By the fifth inning, Albright had four batters with two hits each in the game.
John O'Connor took the ball for Albright and was solid through his five innings of work. O'Connor went five strong allowing one earned run and striking out three batters.
Clarks Summit battled in the later innings, plating a couple runs. Albright had the game well in hand at this point and ultimately went on to win 16-4.
Nick Barton and Tommy Lewman both had three hits today. Barton was a double shy of the cycle going for a homerun, triple and a single. Lewman knocked three singles giving him two RBIs on the day.
Collecting two hits on the day for Albright was Zander Tesoriere, Deklyn Marks, Roman Berretta and Reece Adam.
Berretta and Marks scored three runs each in addition to their strong days at the plate.
