HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Albright women's tennis team (1-0) got their 2023 fall schedule underway on Wednesday afternoon matching up with Penn State Harrisburg (0-2). Albright stormed into Harrisburg looking for their first win of the season and did just that winning 5-4 over the Nittany Lions.
Albright was set to begin their season on Saturday, September 9 against McDaniel. Due to severe weather in the area, the match was forced into a postponement.
The Lions kicked off their season with a statement win over PS Harrisburg. The win for Albright is the first over the Nittany Lions since the 2017-18 season.
Michelle Timothy, Valeria Sanchez, Alaina Smith and Megan Colaneri all won their respective singles matches for the Lions.
Heading to the doubles matches the Lions needed to win one of the three doubles matches to secure the victory over Penn State Harrisburg. Smith and Alizabeth Zarnofsky got the job done for Albright winning their doubles match and clinching the victory for Albright in the process.
