Volleyball Sweeps Penn State Brandywine 3-0 at Home

The Albright women's volleyball team got back in the win column on Thursday night sweeping Penn State Brandywine 3-0. The Lions 11th win of the season is the most since 2013.

READING, Pa. - The Albright women's volleyball team (11-3) got back to their winning ways on Thursday night sweeping Penn State Brandywine (7-4) 3-0. The Lions were in complete control of the match from start to finish securing their 11th win of the season.

With the Lions 11th win this evening the 2023 team has eclipsed last year's win total of 10. The 11 wins are the most in a season since 2013 when Albright won 12 games.

Paola "Lola" Mejias needed 20 assists in tonight's game to reach the 1,000 assist mark for her Albright career. Mejias got the job done recording 21 total assists in tonight's game to surpass the 1,000 mark. Mejias is now sitting at an impressive mark of 1,001 career assists.


Albright 3 // Penn State Brandywine 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19)

It was all Albright tonight controlling the match from the first point to the last point. The Lions started the game on a 12-5 run and never looked back throughout the first set.

Albright carried the first set win momentum into the remaining two sets, winning the final two sets without much resistance from Penn State Brandywine.

With the score sitting at 23-19 Mejias was on the cusp of reaching 1,000 career assists. Mejias assisted on the 23rd Albright point of the set to achieve her 1,000 assist. The Lions would go on to close out the remaining two points, sweeping the match over Penn State Brandywine.

Elle Haddon led the way offensively going for a game high nine kills. Rachel Etim chipped in with eight kills and one solo block.

Neve Straff did a little bit of everything tonight registering six kills, four aces and 11 digs.

Mejias finished with 21 assists to go along with three service aces.

Albright stays at home for the weekend hosting Gwynedd Mercy and Penn State Wilkes-Barre in a tri-match. The Lions will start things off this weekend facing Gwynedd Mercy at 11 a.m. and later Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 3 p.m.
