Field Hockey Falls to Arcadia in First Road Game of the Season

The Albright field hockey team was on the road tonight for the first time in the 2023 season. The Lions fell to the Knights 3-1 in a Commonwealth Freedom crossover battle.

GLENSIDE, PA. – The Albright field hockey team (2-1) kicked off their six game road trip tonight against Arcadia (2-1) suffering their first setback of the season. Albright fell to the Knights by a final score of 3-1.

Morgan Kopcik nearly broke through in the first quarter but was denied on a defensive save from Arcadia. After the defensive save the Lions forced two straight penalty corners but were unable to convert.

The game looked to be headed for a scoreless draw at halftime however Arcadia scored two quick goals before halftime to lead 2-0 at the break.

Albright scored in under three minutes to start the half cutting the deficit in half. Lamya Mejias tallied the score and Keliah Santiago was credited with the assist on the play. For Mejias it was her first goal of the season and Santiago's first assist of the season. 

The Knights answered back and took a 3-1 lead into the fourth quarter. The 3-1 score would hold until the final whistle.

Albright had seven shots on goal with Mejias leading the way with three. As a team the Lions forced 12 corners to Arcadis six. The Knights goalie finished with four saves stifling the Lions Attack.

Albright will have nearly a whole week off until their next contest against Stockon on Wednesday, September 13 at 5 p.m.
