CHESTER, Pa. – The Albright men's basketball team (9-8, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) squared off against #17 Widener University (15-2, 5-1 MAC Commonwealth) on Saturday (Jan. 20) afternoon in another Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth clash. The Pride took today's meeting 91-67 over the Lions.
Joey Callahan led all Albright scorers this afternoon finishing with 12 points. Callahan did all his damage from three-point range making four threes'. The first-year player set multiple career highs this afternoon in points, threes made in the game and minutes played with 15.
Isaac LaPierre was second on the team in scoring this afternoon going for 11 points. LaPierre made two threes on his way to his third double digit scoring game of the season. The senior added two rebounds and two assists to his stat line this afternoon.
Widener jumped out to a 21-10 lead five minutes into the game. The No. 17 team in the country led 45-30 after the opening 20 minutes of play on 46% shooting from the floor.
The Pride opened the second half on a 10-2 run to increase their lead. Widener used the opening second half run to their advantage to take today's game over the Lions.
Phanique Dupree rounded out the Lions in double figures this afternoon scoring 10 points. The Albright forward collected seven rebounds in addition to his 10 points. Dupree now has three games this season of at least 10 points.
Akhir Keys went 2-4 from three for six points in the game. For Key's it is his fifth such game this season where he has made at least two threes in a game.
Eric Chamberlain scored nine points while adding two assists on the day.
Hasson Massenburg scored eight points on 50% shooting from the field. Massenburg added three rebounds to his overall stat line this afternoon.
