ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Albright College men's basketball team (9-9, 2-5 MAC Commonwealth) went on the road for the second straight game matching up against Eastern University (13-5, 5-2 MAC Commonwealth). The Eagles of Eastern University won today's game against the Lions by a final score of 80-72.
Today's game marked the final game of the first time through the MAC Commonwealth portion of the schedule.
Eric Chamberlain led the way offensively for Albright scoring a team high 21 points. Chamberlain had an efficient night shooting the ball shooting 53.8% from the field. Tonight's game marks the third game this season that Chamberlain has scored over 20 points in a game.
Chris Kouemi tallied his fifth double-double of the year and his second double-double in the last four games. Kouemi finished tonight's game with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Of the 10 rebounds, five of them were on the offensive end.
Robert Mangum rounded out the Lions in double figures this evening. Mangum scored 11 points while adding eight rebounds. Tonight's game is the 11
th this season where Mangum has scored in double figures.
The first half was tightly contested throughout. As the first half wound down Eastern began to pull away from the Lions taking a 39-31 lead into intermission.
A pair of Mangum free throws cut the Lions deficit to 66-69 with 3:39 left to play. The Eagles were able to hold on, outscoring Albright 11-6 over the final three minutes of the game to escape with a win.
Isaac LaPiere made two threes scoring eight points on the evening while dishing out three assists.
Phanique Dupree and
Qadir Mitchell each scored seven points. Dupree added three rebounds, two steals an a block to his overall stat line.
