Men’s Basketball Falls at Home to Hood

The Albright men’s basketball team returned to the court on Wednesday (Jan. 31) night playing in their second straight home game. The Blazers of Hood College won today’s game 85-70 over the Lions

READING, Pa. – The Albright College men's basketball team (9-11, 2-7 MAC Commonwealth) returned to action on their home court on Wednesday (Jan. 31) evening playing host to Hood College (16-3, 8-1 MAC Commonwealth). The Blazers took tonight's game over the Lions by a final score of 85-70.

Eric Chamberlain paced all Albright scorers this evening going for 16 points on 5-10 shooting from the floor. With tonight's 16-point performance, Chamberlain now has 313 points this season marking the most points in a season in Chamberlains career. Chamberlain has scored 10 or more points in all but four games this season.  

Robert Mangum was second Lion in double figures this evening going for 14 points and five rebounds. Mangum was perfect from the free throw line going 7-7. The graduate student forward added three assists, one steal and one block to his overall stat line this evening.

Hood led 46-27 at halftime over Albright. The Blazers, who has spent time this season in the national top 25 rankings, made seven first half three's and shot 48.7% from the floor in the first 10 minutes of game action.

The Blazers stretched their lead to 30 with nine minutes left on a Justin Gielen three pointer. Gielen led all scorers tonight with 22 points for the Blazers.

Phanique Dupree tallied eight points three rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes of game action. Chris Kouemi scored seven points while adding two rebounds and a block.

Akhir Keys came off the bench and made two threes. Keys now has back to back games making at least two threes and has six such games this season making at least two threes.  
 
Up Next:
The Lions will head on the road for their next MAC Commonwealth game on Saturday, February 3 against Messiah. The game is set for a 4:00 p.m. tip against the Falcons.
