Football Hosts 73rd Pretzel Bowl against Misericordia

The Lions’ defense turned in their best performance since the season opener in a low scoring affair with the Misericordia Cougars who left with a 13-10 win in the final minute.

READING, Pa. – Football (1-4, 0-4 MAC) hosted the 73rd annual Rajah Shrine Pretzel Bowl against Misericordia (2-3, 1-3 MAC). Only two total touchdowns were scored in the defensive battle with a Cougars' field goal in the final minute being the difference. Misericordia left with a 13-10 victory.

Chase Roberts was named Albright's MVP of the Pretzel Bowl and picked up right where he left off from last week with a 311 yard performance and throwing for a touchdown. Roberts is the first quarterback with multiple 300 yard games in a season since the 2019 season. The Junior also completed 75% of his passes for 136.5 QBR.

Antonio Vasquez nailed a season long 35 yard field goal to put the Lions on the board as the first half expired. At the half, the Cougars were clinging to a 10-3 lead.

John Boston accounted for 87 yards of offense which included a seven yard touchdown reception to tie the game at 10-10. Boston's touchdown catch was the first of his career and his third total touchdown through five games.

Ryan Green hauled in a team high nine catches for a career high 87 yards. The sophomore proved to be a reliable target for Roberts with a majority of his catches resulting in first downs.

Joining Green at the top of the receiving charts was Alden Stickler who led the team with 89 yards on six catches. The sophomore has recorded 50 or more receiving yards in three of the team's five games.

The Lions defense turned in their best performance since the season opener and held the Cougars to under 300 yards of total offense. Anthony Banks recorded a sack and a tackle for a loss in the effort. Additionally, Darien Osmun led the way with 11 total tackles (eight solo) and Samuel Moratori chipped in with eight total tackles of his own.
