READING, Pa. – Volleyball (13-5, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) returned home for a conference match with Messiah (14-5, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth). The visiting Flacons would go on to win in a 3-0 sweep over the Lions.
Neve Straff registered nine kills and 28 total attacks as part of a team high nine-point effort. The Sophomore is now within striking distance of 200 kills on the season.
Two of the three sets were decided by five points or less in a closer match than the score reflected. The best runs of the match for the Lions came in the first set in which they went on three separate 5-0 runs.
One of the strongest elements for the Lions tonight was their ability to generate service aces with
Rachel Etim and
Winniffer Rodriguez each recording a pair.
Lindsey Korn also recorded a service ace of her own to go along with four digs.
Paola Mejias recorded 24 assists and stands at an even 500 on the season and is one away from 1600 for her career.
Sophie Hampton crossed a major milestone tonight and surpassed 700 kills for her career. The Senior currently boasts 183 total kills on the season.
