Men’s Soccer Furious Comeback Earns Hard Fought 3-3 Draw Against Eastern

The Albright men’s soccer team scored three goals in the games final 14 minutes to earn a come from behind draw on the road at Eastern.

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Men's soccer (7-8-2, 0-4-2 MAC Commonwealth) went on the road on Tuesday afternoon squaring off against Eastern (5-7-5, 2-2-2 MAC Commonwealth) in the first of two games during the final week of the regular season. The Lions scored three goals in the final 14 minutes of the match to earn a hard fought 3-3 draw against Eastern.

Today's game was the first of two road games to end the regular season for the Lions. Since 2015, today's game marked only the second time Albright has played Eastern on their home turf.

The Lions found themselves down 3-0 midway through the second half but did not go down without a fight keeping the pressure on Eastern. All six goals scored in today's match came in the second half.

Christian Bowles started the comeback charge with a goal in the 76th minute of play. The goal for Bowles is his 14th of the year which is good for second in the MAC Commonwealth. The goal came 11 seconds after Eastern tallied their third goal.

Just seven minutes later, the Lions earned a penalty kick looking to get within one. After Vincent Simmons initial PK attempt was saved, Simmons collected the rebound and beat the keeper making it a 3-2 game in favor of the Eagles.

Albright was not done there as the equalizer came two minutes later courtesy of Daniel Lowman. Lowman was well positioned to attack a loose ball in the box after an Albright throw in. The junior Lion beat Eastern to the punch to put the Lions level with the Eagles. Lowman has now scored in back to back games for Albright.

The final five minutes of the game ticked off as Albright earned a point in the standings in a dramatic come from behind draw.

Mike Lawry earned his first start of his collegiate career on Tuesday afternoon against Eastern. Lawry kept the Lions in the game all afternoon long and especially in the first half where Lawry made nine saves. The first-year goalie finished with 13 saves which is a season high for any Albright goalkeeper this season.
