Reading, Pa. – The Albright Men's Basketball team (2-0) played in front of their home crowd for the first time this season against Swarthmore (0-2). After a gutty back and forth defensive battle, the Lions would come up clutch in the final minutes to win 64-59.
Phanique Dupree led the way for the Lions with 13 points and was one of four players who ended the night with double digit points. Dupree's eight rebounds and five blocks were both team high's as well.
After the first half of play the Lions would find themselves up 28-26 with both teams looking to energize their offense.
The Lions were not lacking support from the home crowd at all as the students and fans in attendance generated constant energy for the team throughout the game.
Chris Kouemi had an outstanding day on defense and recorded a pair of blocks along with four rebounds and a steal as part of a 10-point performance.
Connor Fields made a number of clutch plays for the Lions which included three steals in just under 14 minutes of play. Fields' +/- of 9 ended up being a team high for the game.
Eric Chamberlain finished second on the team with 12 points and recorded a pair of steals. Chamberlain also fought to grab a rebound in the final seconds which would ultimately seal the victory for the Lions.
Albright's win vs Swarthmore is a big one as the Garnet enter the season as the reigning champions of their conference and were present in the NCAA Tournament last season.
