EWING, N.J. – Men's basketball (2-1) dropped their first game of the season in the first round of the TCNJ Tournament against Connecticut College (1-0). Connecticut College won tonight 73-50 playing in their first game of the season.
Albright came into tonight's game with a 2-0 record starting the season with a win against Penn State Berks followed by a hard-fought win against Swarthmore. Swarthmore came into the game receiving votes in the D3Hoops top 25 preseason poll but fell to the Lions 64-59 on Albright's home floor.
The Lions are participating in The College of New Jersey Tip-off Tournament this weekend alongside Connecticut College, Baruch College and the hosts TCNJ. TCNJ beat Baruch 86-84 in the first game of the day.
Connecticut College ended the first half up 17 points on 44% shooting as a team from the field. The Camels kept up their strong play in the second half to walk away with the non-conference win.
Phanique Dupree has scored in double figures in three straight games to begin the season. Dupree tallied 14 points to go along with 10 rebounds picking up his first double-double of the year. Dupree was efficient from the floor going 7/10.
Isaac LaPierre went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line while connecting on a three-pointer ending the game with seven points.
Chris Kouemi hauled in seven rebounds to go along with four points.
Akhir Keys knocked down a pair of shots from the floor ending with six points while adding a steal and a block.
