Men’s Basketball Loses Narrowly to Franklin & Marshall

The Lions scored 39 points in the second half in a heartbreaking loss after trailing by as many as 11 points.

READING, Pa. – The Albright Men's Basketball team (2-3) played their second game at home this season against Franklin and Marshall (3-2) on Friday night. Following 40 minutes of play, the Lions would fall just short losing to the Diplomats by a score of 71-68.

Eric Chamberlain led all scorers with 17 points and grabbed a pair of rebounds and tied for the team lead in assists with four in addition to recording a steal.

Isaac LaPierre turned in a strong defensive performance with a team high two blocks, two steals and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Lions trailed by a score of 34-29 at halftime and were looking for a way to spark their offense in the second half.

Akhir Keys and Qadir Mitchell did just that and found themselves getting in rhythm from beyond the arch. Keys and Mitchell would both go on to end the night with double digit points and multiple three pointers.

Chris Kouemi converted five of his seven shots and went 2-2 at the free throw line to finish with 12 points and a team high eight rebounds.

The Lions fought back from being down double digits and ended up taking their first lead of the half with just over six minutes to go.

A 14-11 run by the Diplomats would be all that was needed for them to squeak out a three-point win with the game coming down to the final shot by the Lions.
