READING, Pa. –
Eric Chamberlain became the 41
st player in Albright men's basketball history to reach and surpass 1000 career points. Chamberlain scored a game high 20 points as the senior guard entered the history books. Albright (5-4) fell today in the first round of the DoubleTree Holiday Tournament to visiting Alfred (4-5) 63-61.
Chamberlain needed eight points coming into today's game to become the 41
st player in school history to reach 1000 career points. Fitting for Chamberlain, his 1000
th and 1001 point came off a steal finishing an acrobatic layup on the other end. The senior guard is the first Lion to reach 1000 points since Sam Majekodunmi accomplished the feat in 2021. With 15 games to go in the regular season, Chamberlain will look to continue to climb the schools all-time point list as the season wears on.
Chamberlain finished with a game high 20 points on 50% shooting from the floor. The 20-point performance is the 4
th straight game Chamberlain has scored 20 or more points and the 5
th time overall this season he has scored 20 or more points in a game. The guard rounded out his day with four rebounds and four steals.
Alfred led at halftime 38-26 behind strong three-point shooting.
As the second half went along, Albright climbed back into the game eventually taking a 59-57 lead with two minutes to play. The final two minutes saw Alfred go 2-2 from the floor and 2-2 from the line to escape with a 63-61 victory.
Phanique Dupree was second on the team in scoring with 12 points. Dupree added eight rebounds and three blocks in an all around solid effort.
Chris Kouemi added nine points while
