READING, Pa. – The Albright College softball team (3-15, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) hosted cross town rivals Alvernia (14-7, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth) on Friday afternoon. Today's MAC Commonwealth clash was the third conference series of the season for both teams.
GAME 1: L, 14-0
Alvernia took control of game one in the first inning scoring 11 runs.
Kathryn Baptiste went 1-2 this afternoon with a double. The double for Baptiste is her third of the year which is one double shy of the team lead.
Veronica Heckman collected another hit this afternoon running her personal hit streak to five games. Heckman finished her day going 1-3 at the plate with a run scored. The 1-3 performance at the plate improves Heckman's season average to .286.
Cassidy Capolete continue her run of strong play going 1-3 at the plate. The hit in game one marked the fourth straight game with a hit. The first-year player is now up to an impressive batting average of .314.
Earning a walk in today's game was
Marissa Rovenstine and
Juliette Licata.
Kaitlyn Aasheim came on in relief to pitch for the Lions and fared well tossing 4.2 innings while striking out four batters along the way.
GAME: L, 9-2
Marissa Rovenstine had a great day at the plate in game two going 3-4 at the plate with an RBI. Rovenstine's average is now up to .284 and the RBI in game one marks the seventh RBI of the season for the first year Lion.
Slaydon Fisher collected the second RBI of the day for the Lions going 1-3 at the plate. Fisher has enjoyed a nice start to her season at the plate now hitting .357 on the year.
Albright and Alvernia were locked up in a tight game with Alvernia clinging to a 2-1 lead after five innings of play. The Golden Wolves were able to pull away from the Lions scoring four runs in the sixth inning, ultimately giving the road team the victory.

Juliette Licata and Heckman all collected a single in game two. Heckman and Licata both added a run scored to their overall stat line this afternoon.
With the hit in game two, Heckman is now riding a six game hit streak heading into play next week.
As a team the Lions collected eight hits on the afternoon in game two.
