Men’s Lacrosse Drops Back and Fourth Road Game to Moravian 15-12

The Albright men’s lacrosse team was back on the road on Wednesday evening (Mar. 6) squaring off against Moravian. The Greyhounds took tonight’s game 15-12 over the Lions.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Albright men's lacrosse team (3-3) went on the road for third time in six games to start the season squaring off against non-conference foe Moravian (1-3). The Greyhounds took tonight's game over the Lions 15-12 on their home turf.

Tonight's game is the first matchup between the two schools in each of their respective program's history.

The men's lacrosse team had a big week off the field having swept the MAC Commonwealth Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Joost Van der Horst finished the two-game week with 12 goals, six assists and 18 points taking home Offensive Player of the Week honors. Hunter Fitterling racked up seven caused turnovers and picked up 11 ground balls in last weeks two games being named Defensive Player of the Week.

Nick Antonio scored a career high four goals on five total shots. Antonio now has two games this season with scoring at least three goals in a game. Justin Moroney netted three goals and two ground balls. Moroney has scored three goals in back to back games giving him seven goals on the season.

Moravian jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter but Albright battled back to tie the game up at 4-4. After the first 30 minutes of play, Albright and Moravian were knotted up at six.

Neither team could separate themselves on the scoreboard as the two sides found themselves tied on four different occasions throughout. On Jack Burkes second goal of the game, Albright pulled even with Moravian at 10-10 to begin the fourth quarter. In the end, the Greyhounds used a 5-2 run to close the game and ultimately earn the win on their home turf.

Burke finished with two goals, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

James Elko, Tyler Richards and Peter Alessi each added a goal today for the Lions. Elko finished with two assists giving himself three points on the evening.

Hunter Fitterling caused for more turnovers while also collecting four ground balls in tonight's game. Joost Van der Horst finished the night with three assists, seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Albright will remain on the road heading to Goucher College on Saturday, March 9. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start time from Baltimore, Md.
