READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team (5-1 Spring '24, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) picked up another historic win beating York tonight by a 6-3 final. The Lions win over York College (2-4 Spring '24, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) was the first win against the Spartans since at least the 2010 season.
The Lions have enjoyed a fantastic season so far and tonight Albright continued their strong play. The Lions last started 2-0 in MAC Commonwealth for the first time since the 2014 season, a decade ago. Today's win is the third straight overall for the Lions and the 10
th win of the season surpassing last year's win total of nine.
Albright won four singles matches and two double matches to claim victory over the Spartans.
Alex Pancu, the reining women's MAC Tennis Player of the Week, won again in straight sets in #1 singles play. Pancu won 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets. Pancu has yet to lose a single match this season continuing her strong play and proving why she is the best player in the MAC Commonwealth.

Valeria Sanchez. Sanchez, who was named MAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week earlier this season, won today in straight sets. Sanchez won 6-3, 6-4 picking up another point for the Lions.
Alaina Smith took the win in #5 singles play, also winning in straight sets. Smith won handily, 6-3, 6-2 picking up the third singles win of the day for the Lions.

Alizabeth Zarnofsky followed that trend. Zarnofsky won convincingly 6-1, 6-4 over the opposition.
Albright went into the doubles matches needing just one victory to claim the team win over the Spartans.
Michelle Timothy and Pancu got the job done in #1 doubles play winning a tightly contested match, 8-6.
#3 doubles went to the Lions as Sanchez and Smith doubled up their opponent taking the doubles match 8-4.

Albright will head to Alvernia on Saturday, April 10 for a matchup against the Golden Wolves. The match is set for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
