READING, Pa. – Women's tennis is heading back to the postseason for the first time since 2014 with today's 9-0 win over Hood College. The 9-0 win is the third straight for Albright in MAC Commonwealth play.
Prior to the start of today's game, the Lions took the time to honor their two graduating seniors,
Macie Littleton and
Alizabeth Zarnofsky.
With today's Albright is heading back to the postseason since the 2014 season. Albright is still perfect in MAC Commonwealth play with a 5-0 record. Additionally, the Lions have secured at least a one or two seed in the MAC Commonwealth women's tennis playoffs. With a win against Eastern on Tuesday, Albright would clinch the one seed in the conference and the rights to host their first-round match.
The Lions have won back to back to back matches without dropping a single point. In five MAC Commonwealth matches this season, Albright has outscored their opponent 38-9. Albright has now beaten Hood in three straight matches.
Every point in todays game went to the Lions sweeping the singles and doubles competition.
Alex Pancu kept up her strong play with another straight sets win, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Michelle Timothy and
Elicia Aponte both won in straight sets in #2 and #3 singles play. Timothy won 6-1, 6-0 and Aponte won 6-1, 6-1.
Valeria Sanchez and Zarnofsky rounded out the singles matches with to more impressive wins. Sanchez won 6-3, 6-1 while Zarnofsky won 6-2, 6-0.
The doubles matches were more of the same for the Lions as Albright won the three matches by a combined score of 24-7.
Pancu and Timothy won easily 8-1, Sanchez and Smith prevailed in their match with a 8-5 win and Aponte and
Saba Soroush made quick work of their opponent winning 8-1.

Albright will look to secure the number one seed in the playoffs with a win in their next match coming against Eastern. The Eagles and Lions will match up on Tuesday, April 23 on the Albright Tennis Courts.
