READING, Pa – Baseball (11-23, 6-12 MAC Commonwealth) returned to conference play today against Hood College (21-15, 10-9 MAC Commonwealth) in what would go on to be a battle of the bats. After nine innings of exciting offense, the Lions would go on to win 14-7.
Lucas Williams saved one his best performances for the end of the season and picked up his second win of the year pitching six innings and striking out three batters in the process to go along with only one earned run.
Albright came up to bat in the second inning down 2-0 looking to answer to Hood's fast start.
Deklyn Marks and
Zander Tesoriere each recorded an RBI to tie the game at 2-2 after two innings.
After the top of the second inning the Lions would go on to score six unanswered runs with
Chris Gorla delivering the go ahead run in the third inning via his third homerun of the season. Gorla would finish the day with three hits and a team high five RBIs bringing his batting average and RBI totals to .294 and 25 on the season. This was Gorla's second game of the season with at least four RBIs.
Brenden Stuhltrager scored a pair of runs and picked up four hits to go along with two RBIs. With 30 games, all starts, under his belt the first year is currently hitting .309 with a .398 OBP and has amassed 21 RBIs.
Jack Gilmer,
Tommy Lewman and
Roman Berretta each recorded a pair of hits and combined for eight runs scored as six Lions would go on to record a multi-hit performance.
Nick Barton and
Christian Eckstein also joined in on the scoring party recording a combined three RBIs and a run scored on the day.
After seven and a third innings of work, the Lions found themselves in control winning 11-7 looking to put the game away.
Josh Tudor would go on to put the nails in the coffin pitching the last 1.2 innings with Gorla recording another three RBIs in the eighth inning to win 14-7.
