OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Jadelyn Van Winkle threw a complete game shutout in game one leading the Albright College softball team (4-18, 1-7 MAC Commonwealth) to a double header split against Stevenson (7-9, 4-4 MAC Commonwealth). The game one win for Albright is the first win over the Mustangs since the 2019 season.
Albright earned their first win over the Mustangs since 2019 in shutout fashion. The MAC Commonwealth victory is the first for Albright since April of the 2022 season against Eastern. The last shutout win for Albright came last season in a 5-0 win over Delaware Valley.
GAME 1: W, 2-0
Jadelyn Van Winkle was outstanding for Albright in game one pitching a complete game shutout. Van Winkle struck out a career high 11 batters while scattering five hits across seven innings. The 11 strikeouts mark the first time Van Winkle has reached double digit strikeouts in a game.
Van Winkle only allowed one Stevenson base runner to reach third in game one stifling the Mustang offense. The complete game shutout is also a career best for Van Winkle. The defense behind Van Winkle was solid all afternoon committing no errors in the field.
The Lions pounded out nine hits in game one led by
Monica Hernandez and
Kathryn Baptiste each having two hits. Hernandez and Baptiste both scored one run for Albright in the third inning. All nine Albright hits were singles.
Albright plated two runs in the third inning taking advantage of the Mustangs miscues.
Slaydon Fisher hit a ball to left field that was misplayed by Stevenson allowing Hernandez and Baptiste to score.

Juliette Licata and Van Winkle all had one hit in game one. Rovenstine and Van Winkle each added a walk.
Albright out hit Stevenson nine to five in the game. Seven different Lions collected a hit in the first game of the double header.
GAME 2: L, 12-4
Licata kept a hot bat going into game two finishing 3-3 at the plate. The three hit game is the second of the season for Licata. The first-year Lion had two singles, a double and an RBI improving her average to an impressive .357 on the year.
Hernandez and Rovenstine both added hits in game two to join Licata as the three Lions having hits in both games. Hernandez had a double and an RBI while Rovenstine had a single and a run scored.
Madison Lasko added an RBI for the Lions going 1-2 at the plate with a walk. Lasko's RBI came in the first inning scoring Rovenstine.
Van Winkle rounded out the hits in game two going 1-2 at the plate with a run scored.
