Football Hosts Eastern on Homecoming Weekend

Albright offense totaled 393 yards while Chase Roberts threw for 334 yards through the air. Eastern’s defense forced timely turnovers to win 41-20 over the Lions.

READING, Pa.  – Football (1-3, 0-2 MAC) was able to move the ball up and down the field on the Eastern (1-3, 0-2 MAC) Eagles defense but came up short in converting the long drives into points. Eastern forced timely turnovers and pulled away late from Albright to win their first game of the season 41-20 over the Lions.

Albright's offense erupted for 393 yards of total offense. The offensive yardage output is the most in a game since 2021 when Albright went for 390 yards against Western Connecticut.

First-year quarterback Chase Roberts threw for 334 yards a touchdown. Roberts best pass of the day came in the first half when he threw a beautiful ball to Alden Stickler deep down the field that went for a 78-yard touchdown. The 78-yard touchdown is the longest play from scrimmage this season for the Albright offense.

Roberts became the first 300-yard passer for Albright in the last five years. The last quarterback to eclipse the 300-yard mark in a game was Jimmy Lahay in 2019. The 334 yards through the air for Roberts is the most of any MAC quarterback this season. The Lion field general finished 24/39 passing along with the long touchdown.

John Boston continues to impress on the Albright offense. Boston has made his mark on the ground this season but led the team in receptions today. Boston hauled in a team high nine passes on nine targets for 84 yards. The first-year tailback added 37 yards on the ground to become the second Lion on the day to surpass 100 yards of total offense.

Alden Stickler had a career day catching four passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns. After Eastern muffed a punt deep in their own territory in the first quarter, Alex Gardsy found Stickler in the end zone to put the Lions up 7-0 for his first receiving touchdown on the day. Stickler became the first 100-yard receiver since Malik Bootman in 2019.

After a back and forth first half Eastern managed to pull ahead taking a 21-17 at halftime. The Lions had multiple long drives in the second half looking to get even with the Eagles.

Albright got the ball back late in the third quarter down 28-20. Eastern's defense rose to the occasion on the possession intercepting a pass and returning it deep into the Lions side of the fifty. The Eagles punched it in to make it 34-20 and would score late seeing the game end 41-20 in favor of Eastern.

The Albright defense was led by Samuel Moratori once again. The Albright safety has been flying around the field all season long and today was no different. Moratori finished with 11 tackles, his third game this season with double digit tackles.

Terell Bartee finished with two tackles for loss including a sack. Sebastian Robinson finished with six tackles including a tackle for loss.

Angelo Hernandez recorded his first interception by ripping it away from the Eastern wide out and coming down with the ball. Hernandez forced the only turnover of the day for Albright while finishing with five tackles.

Albright finished with eight tackles for loss as team. Recording a tackles for loss was Darien Osmun, Sebastian Robinson, Jamal Charles and Tyler Kapschull.
