Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Stevenson 57-43

Albright picked up their first conference win of the season on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Lions held Steveson to a season low 43 points on their way to a 14-point victory.

OWINGS MILLS, Md.  – Women's basketball (7-7, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) earned their first conference victory of the season rolling past Steveson (6-9, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) 57-43 on the Mustangs home floor Saturday afternoon. The win is the fourth straight for Albright over Stevenson.

Albright allowed their fewest points of the season only giving up 43 to Stevenson. The Lions forced the Mustangs into 19 turnovers while limiting them to 24.6% shooting from the floor and a 2-20 mark from three-point range.

The game was close after 30 minutes of play, but Albright was able to maintain a 25-23 lead into halftime. The Lions did a great job of cleaning up on the offensive glass in the first half on their way to finishing the game with 26 offensive rebounds.

Coming out of halftime, the Lions opened the third quarter with a 9-0 run en route to winning the third quarter 20-8. The lead never fell below 12 points for Albright in the fourth quarter picking up their seventh overall win of the season.

CJ Apistar led all scorers this afternoon with 14 points, scoring double figures in each of the last two games. Apistar added six rebounds in 30 minutes of game action.

Mackenzie Dover filled up the stat sheet including finishing with a game high nine rebounds. Dover scored 12 points while also leading the team in assists with four and steals with three. The three steals tie a season high.

Kenedy Cooper gave Albright multiple second chance opportunities this afternoon coming down with five offensive rebounds. Cooper added a three-pointer for eight points total while picking up two steals.

Orianna Edmond, Chrisdin Jones and Gigi Serrano were all credited with two steals each. Six different players recorded a steal in an all around strong defensive team effort.
