READING, Pa. – The Albright Women's Basketball team (8-7, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) returned home with their first conference win of the season to face York (9-7, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth). Following 40 minutes of play the Lions would down the Spartans 67-66 in a wild fourth quarter comeback.
CJ Apistar was all over the court today and scored a team high 15 points and also led the team in assists (6) and steals (5). The Junior guard hit shots as time expired in each of the first two quarters allowing the Lions to keep momentum.
The Lions entered halftime trailing by a score of 31-29 after the Spartan offense caught fire in the second quarter.
Chrisdin Jones and
Ciarra Gibbs each converted on half of their shots and tied for second with 10 points off the bench.
The Lions as a team brought in a total of 50 rebounds throughout the game with
Mackenzie Dover grabbing a team high of 10 for her second double digit rebound performance of the season.
With the team trailing in the final 30 seconds, the Lions looked for one more set of points to complete their comeback.
Julia Zakovitch drew a foul with seven seconds left in the game and converted each of her two free throws to give her team the lead after trailing by as much as 11 in the third quarter.
Smart fouls and key defensive plays by the Lions were then enough to seal their second conference victory in the slimmest of margins.
