Brylie Jensen’s Game Winners Sends Women’s Soccer Past Widener

Albright beat Widener 1-0 on the road on Tuesday evening. Brylie Jensen scored in the 86th minute to break the scoreless draw.

CHESTER, Pa.- Women's soccer (2-12-2, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) picked up a huge win in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth play on Tuesday evening beating Widener (6-6-3, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) 1-0. Brylie Jensen tallied the game winner to give the Lions three points in the Commonwealth standings.

Albright beat Widener 1-0 on the road on Tuesday evening to earn their first conference win of the season. The Lions have won two of their past three games, peaking at the right time.

The first 45 minutes were played to a 0-0 draw. Albright and Widener combined for only seven first half shots in a defensive minded game.

In the second half both offenses began to find their groove trading potential goal scoring opportunities. The 0-0 halftime score would hold until the 86th minute of play.

Albright earned a corner with under five minutes to play. Alyssa DeVita took the kick and sent a dangerous ball into the box that would find the foot of Kassidy Phillips. Phillips' initial shot was saved by a Widner defender.

With Wideners defense scrambling, Jensen collected the loose ball placing the ball in the back of the net scoring the game winner. Jensen's goal was her fourth of the season and the first game winning goal of her Albright career.

Paisley Tornatore played a fantastic 90 minutes, making eight saves. Including tonight the junior goalkeeper has three clean sheets this season with two of them coming in the last three games. Tornatore is second in the Commonwealth in total saves with 79.

Albright took nine total shots in today's game. Seven of them were placed on goal. The Lions had a balanced offense attack, having six different players record a shot on goal.

Albright will remain on the road for their next contest against Hood College. The game will take place on Saturday, October 25 and kick-off at 4:00 p.m.
