READING, Pa. – Field Hockey (2-7) played the first of three straight at home with a morning match against Gwynedd Mercy (2-9). Three different Lions found themselves in the scoring column in what turned out to be a 3-2 victory for Albright in overtime.
This game featured some friendly family competition as the Griffins were led by Coach Co's sister Alexa.
"Today was a great team win after a hard fought battle! It was nice to see us keep fighting, especially after letting the first goal in. A lot of us stepped up today in different moments", Said Coach Co. "A huge shoutout goes to Bobbie who consistently made the runs to give our team numerous opportunities to score. It was awesome to have her finish the game with an OT goal!
The Griffins would strike first just over four minutes into the game before
Rayven Muller answered right back with a goal of her own in the final minutes of the opening period. Muller's goal was her first of the season and finished the game with two shots.
Keliah Santiago would then give the Lions their first lead of the day seven minutes into the third period with an unassisted goal for her second score of the season. Santiago was one of three Lions to put together multiple shots on goal.
The Griffins would score the lone goal in the fourth period to force the Lions into overtime for the second time this season. The overtime period would be short lived as
Bobbie Van Oordt broke free for the game winning goal just over two minutes into the period. Van Oordt continues to impress in her first year and now has accounted for three goals and an assist in eight games this season.
