READING, Pa. – Men's soccer (5-8-5, 0-5-2 MAC Commonwealth) hosted their annual senior night game on Saturday evening against Alvernia (3-9-7, 2-3-3 MAC Commonwealth). The Lions and Golden Wolves played to a 1-1 draw after an exciting 90 minutes of action.
Prior to the start of tonight's game, the men's soccer program took the time to honor their five graduating seniors. The seniors are
Myles Mitchell,
Martin Ramsay,
Christopher Estrada,
Daniel Lowman and
Erick Tacuri.
The Golden Wolves got on board first in the first half. The Alvernia goal came off a volleyed shot from roughly 30 yards out.
The Alvernia goal was the lone goal of the half as they were clinging to a 1-0 lead over Albright after 45 minutes.
The second half featured numerous scoring opportunities for both sides.
In the closing minutes of the game the Lions senior duo was not going to go down without a fight. Ramsay stepped up to take a free kick and proceeded to play a beautiful ball into the box. The pass would find a streaking Lowman who put the perfect touch on the ball to level the game at 1-1. The goal came in the 88
th minute of play.
The Lions outshot the Golden Wolves 16-13.
Ramsay led the team in shots with six placing two on goal. The senior Lion ends his fantastic Albright career with 23 career goals, nine game winning goals and four MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week honors.
Gael Velazquez was credited with four shots placing three of them on frame. Lowman fired two shots in the game with one resulting in the game tying goal.
Mike Lawry earned the start in goal and made four saves. Lawry is one of the best goalies in the Commonwealth, ending his season with 80 saves across 17 starts.
