WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Men's wrestling competed in their second invite of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Wilkes Invite. A total of six Lions placed helping the team to a seventh-place finish.
Trent Mahoney won his second individual title of the season at 157 pounds.
Albright took seventh place earning 100 points on the day. Including Albright, five total Middle Atlantic Conference teams were featured in the invite. The Lions beat Wilkes, Arcadia, and King's while finishing just mere points behind Misericordia.
Danny Metzler took third at 141, going 3-1 on the afternoon. Metlzer won his first two bouts by major decision (15-4) and decision (9-4) and won by forfeit to close out the day. After 12 bouts this season Metzler holds a record of 9-3.
Sixth place was earned today by
Seth Karpulk at 149. Karpulk racked up three wins with two coming by decision and one by a pin at 4:29.
Trent Mahoney continues his tremendous start to the season at 157 pounds. Mahoney is two for two in individual crowns this season entering today ranked ninth nationally. Today, the standout went 5-0 winning every bout by pin or tech fall. The senior Lion has yet to lose this season having a record of 13-0.
Abdoul Akala placed third at 184 pounds. Akala finished with a 3-1 record earning a pin and two decisions by way of 12-6 and 8-2. On the season Akala boasts a mark of 9-3.
Romello Fuentes finished sixth at 197 after a 3-2 day. Fuentes earned wins in all different fashions having a pin in a match the ended 19-17, a tech fall (17-0) and a decision (4-0).
At HWT
Joseph Gassert went 2-2 to take home a fourth-place finish. The first bout for Gassert was won by a 2-1 margin with the second of the day being a pin in 50 seconds.

Albright will host their first dual match since the program's reinstatement on Saturday, November 22. The Lions will welcome the University of Scranton with the match scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
