Men’s Basketball Opens Holiday Tournament against Pitt Greensburg

The Lions returned home for the first time in nearly a month following a win against Kean.

READING, Pa. – Men's Basketball (4-6) began the annual Double Tree Holiday Tournament against the Pitt Greensburg Bobcats (10-0). Following 40 minutes of play, the Lions would lose a heart breaker with the Bobcats hitting a basket in the final seconds to steal a 75-74 win. The Lions entered this game winners of three straight.

Jeremiah Stanton led the Lions with 19 points in 28 minutes which included converting three shots from downtown and bringing in four rebounds and four assists.

Finishing second behind Stanton with a dozen points was Qadir Mitchell who continues to be among the leading scorers in the conference. Mitchell also picked up a pair of assists and three rebounds.

The Lions held the lead almost the entire first half thanks to quality play from their bench. As a team the Lions bench accounted for 23 points to the Bobcats' 16. Akhir Keys led all bench players with seven points in 19 minutes.

Despite the Bobcats' offense waking up in the tail end of the first half, the Lions still managed to go into the locker room with a 34-33 lead.

Chase McWhite did a little bit of everything for the Lions and was one of four players to end the night with double digit points (10) and led the Lions in both rebounds (7) and assists (5).

With the two teams combining for 82 second half points, a Bobcat basket with just over seven seconds to go would wind up being the difference in a one-point loss for the Lions.
