READING, Pa. – The Albright Men's Basketball team (15-7, 10-2 MAC Commonwealth) played in their first game since clinching a playoff spot against the Stevenson Mustangs (8-15, 2-10 MAC Commonwealth) on Saturday afternoon. This game also ended their three-game home stand. Both teams struggled to get their offense going however the Lions made enough winning plays to end the day with a 55-53 win.
Prior to the game the team honored their graduating players;
Eric Chamberlain,
Chris Kouemi and
Dylin Borden.
Eric Chamberlain had a senior day to remember and finished second on the team with 15 points and eight rebounds to go along with three steals.
Both teams shot under 40% in the first half which included no points being scored for nearly the first five minutes of play. Nonetheless the Lions still entered halftime with a 25-22 lead looking to win conference game number 10.
Phanique Dupree hauled in a team high nine rebounds, including three on the offensive end, in a game where the Lions recorded a total of 46.
Stevenson trailed 55-53 in the final seconds looking for a two to tie or a three-pointer to escape with a win. Chamberlain would then end his senior day with a game winning block and rebound with three seconds to go to seal the win for the Lions.
The win keeps the Lions as the number one seed in the conference and allows them to continue controlling their own destiny as they prepare for postseason play.
