EMMITSBURG, Md. – Baseball (2-2) traveled one state down on Saturday afternoon to play Gettysburg (5-0) on the campus of Mount Saint Mary's in two nine inning games.
GAME 1:
Albright scored twice in the first inning behind a
Tommy Lewman sacrifice fly and a
Max Frank RBI single to left field. Lewman extended the lead to 4-0 Lions in the fourth inning on a two RBI double.
Gettysburg battled back and took a 5-4 lead heading into the top of the eighth.
Jack Gilmer led off the top of the eighth with a solo shot to right field to tie the game at five on his third hit of the game. Gilmer scored three of the Lions five runs on the day and has two three hit games to start season.
After a scoreless ninth for Albright, Gettysburg plated a run in the bottom of the frame to take game one.
Roman Berretta went 2-3 from the lead off spot and came around to score twice.
Nick Barton and
Christian Eckstein each added a single rounding out the hits in game one.
GAME 2:
Albright collected 13 total hits including four extra base hits to score eight runs in game two.
Berretta picked up where he left off in game one collecting a career high four hits in game two. Berretta is hitting .538 through four games serving as the Lions leadoff man.
Christian Eckstein,
Michael Avino and
Ian VanBrookhoven all had two hits and combined to score five runs. Eckstein added two RBIs on his second multi-hit game of the season.
Barton doubled to center field for two more RBIs on the day while Gilmer remained hot at the plate adding another hit, RBI and run scored.
