ABINGTON, Pa. - Women's tennis began their 2025 spring season this afternoon with a 7-0 win over Penn State Abington. The win moves the Lions to 1-0 in the spring and Abington falls to 0-1.
Dating back to last season and including this past fall season, the Lions are on a 15-match win streak in the regular season. The team's last regular season loss came in March a year ago.
Alex Pancu enters her senior season as a three-time MAC Commonwealth Player of Year and will look to make it a four in a row after the conclusion of this spring season. Pancu was dominant in her number one singles match winning 6-1,4-6,10-4 against Penn State Abington's top player.
Michelle Timothy cruised to a 6-1,6-0 victory in number two singles play.
The trio of
Elicia Aponte,
Allison Horick and
Alaina Smith all swept their respective opponents. Aponte and Horick won 6-0, 6-0 and Smith won 8-0.
Pancu and Horick teamed up for a 6-1 win in doubles play while Timothy and
Kaelyn Davis took the number two doubles match 6-4.
