READING, Pa. – The Lions women's lacrosse team (3-3) got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon beating Wilson (0-8) at home 26-9. Albright was in complete control of the game from the opening draw to the last while graduate student
Kayte Moist recorded her 100
th career goal in the win.
Albright set a new program record for goals in a game this afternoon with 26. The team surpassed the previous mark of 24 set over 10 years ago.
Moist needed four goals in today's game to become the ninth player in program history to reach 100 career goals. The fourth goal came late in the second period etching her name again into the record books. Moist finished with a team high six goals.
Albright led 16-6 after the first 30 minutes of play. The Lions started slow but were able to close the half on a 7-0 run to take a commanding lead.
The 7-0 run turned into an 11-0 run to stretch the Lions lead to 21-6 midway through the third period. Albright never trailed in today's game picking up their third win of the season.
Sarah Chernis set a new career high for points in a game with 10. Chernis scored four goals and assisted on six goals. Chernis now has two games this season with six assists in a game which tied the program record on both occasions.
Also setting a new career high today was
Bridgette Asher and
Kendall Smith. The duo combined to score 11 goals seeing Asher score six of them and Smith scoring five.
Lucy Moreland earned her second hatrick of the season scoring all three goals in the first half.
Albright only turned the ball over seven times while forcing Wilson into 19 turnovers.
Zoe Dicks had three caused turnovers tying
Anna Bien for the team lead.
