Softball Concludes Homestand against Misericordia

The Lions concluded a four game homestand with a double-header against Misericordia.

READING, Pa. – Albright Softball (1-11) hosted the second of back-to-back home series against Misericordia (15-4). Both games consisted of high levels of offense as the visiting Cougars would ultimately leave with a pair of road wins over the Lions.

Game 1:

Gabriella Weiss stated on the mound for the Lions and pitched a full seven innings and recorded a pair of strikeouts. Weiss also recorded a pair of hits which included two RBIs to bring the Lions within one in the seventh inning.

Joining Weiss in recording multiple hits and RBIs was Juliette Licata who drove in a pair of runners in the third inning to tie the game and erase a 4-0 deficit. Licata would then come around to score on a sacrifice fly from Grace Landante, who also recorded two hits.

Game one would see the Lions threaten in the final inning and bring the winning run to plate. The team would ultimately fall just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-6.

Game 2:

Game two featured Caitlin Mahady striking out four batters in just over two innings of work before giving way to Alexis Laboy for the final 1.2 innings.

Both Juliette Licata and Ryleigh Prinz recorded RBIs by way of legging out a fielder's choice in a game where the Lions took advantage of a number of Cougar mistakes.

The Lions would ultimately plate five runs by ways of hits, fielder's choices and errors in an all-around gritty offensive performance.

Unfortunately, Misericordia's offense would also be firing on all cylinders which included a game high five runs in the seventh inning to push them past the Lions 16-5 and take both games.
