Women’s Tennis Rolls to 5-2 Win Over Ursinus

Albright women’s tennis won their second match of the week against strong competition beating the Ursinus Bears 5-2 at home.

READING, Pa. – Women's tennis improved to 9-0 in the 24-25 season and 4-0 in the spring. Albright beat Ursinus 5-2 to drop the Bears to 7-4 overall. The win for Albright is their 18th consecutive regular season win.

In #1 doubles Alex Pancu and Allison Horick battled to the end to pick up one of the two Lions doubles wins on the day. The match came down to the wire but Albright came out on top winning 7-6 (7-4).

Michell Timohty and Elicia Aponte secured the team doubles point for the Lions in #3 doubles winning their match 6-3.

Albright would go on to win four of the six singles matches. Three of the four Lion wins came in straight sets.

Timohty improved to 3-1 overall in the spring picking up another win in straight sets. Timothy won 6-2, 6-4 in #2 singles.

Horick has yet to lose a match for the Lions since arriving on campus in the fall. Horick is now 7-0 in her Albright career after winning today in three sets. The first year Lion won set one 6-1, dropped set two 5-7 and pulled out the win in set three winning the tiebreak 11-9.

Aponte won her third match this spring in straight sets winning today 6-3, 6-3 in #4 singles. Aponte is 7-2 individually in the 24-25 season.

Alaina Smith remains perfect in the spring winning her eighth straight match overall. Smith won today in #5 singles 7-5, 6-3.

Albright will officially begin to defend their 2024 MAC Championship crown tomorrow when the team takes on Hood College. The match will start at 12 p.m. in Frederick, Md.
