READING, Pa. – Albright Baseball (10-12, 1-8 MAC Commonwealth) finished their season series with Eastern (9-15, 3-6 MAC Commonwealth) at Kelchner Field. With Eastern's field undergoing renovations, the Lions served as the road team for both games. Both games went into extra innings as the Lions and Eagles split the two games by scores of 3-2 and 7-7.
Game 1:
The Lions jumped on the board first via a double steal with
Plyler Hunter stealing home to put the first run of the game.
Nick Barton would later drive in
Chris Gorla on a sacrifice groundout to increase the Lions lead to 2-0.
The rest of the game would turn into a pitcher's duel with
Dominic Yeager starting and pitching 6.2 innings.
Eastern's offense would finally find life in the seventh inning and score a pair of runs to send the game into extra innings before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to escape game one with a 3-2 win.
Game 2:
Game two saw the Lions respond after losing in heartbreaking fashion with a pair of first inning runs to build a 3-0 lead after the top of the second inning. This included RBIs from
Nick Barton and
Michael Avino. Avino also took advantage of a wild pitch to score the game's first run.
Eastern's offense would continue to do what they've done best and fight back to eventually take a 5-3 lead over the Lions into the fifth inning.
Josh Tudor would play a pivotal role for the Lions and strikeout six batters in five innings of relief to help shutdown an electric Eagles offense. Tudor would go on to earn his first win of the season in the process.
After
Nathan Golden tied the game in the sixth with a two-run double,
Christian Eckstein helped drive in two runs in the eight as the Lions took back the lead by a score of 7-5.
With the Eagles threatening in the bottom of the eight,
Nicolas Natalie entered the game with the bases loaded and looked to record the last two outs of the game.
After an unearned was allowed on a sac fly, Natalie struck out the final batter for his first save of the season and give Albright their first conference win of the season by a score of 7-6.
